I don’t know about you, but I love watching Man vs Food on the Travel Channel. There’s something about a guy roaming the world in search of big, huge “how much can I eat” opportunities at restaurants with special challenges. In my town, a burger chain called Andy’s has this gigantic burger that, if you can eat it all in one sitting, is free. But only a few stalwart souls have achieved that high honor. It paid off for them, too, since their photos and a short bio are forever immortalized in the Andy’s stores.
Perhaps not many people want to be remembered for gorging themselves on too much of this or that and getting a free meal out of the deal — especially when that meal quite possibly leads to unintended regurgitation shortly after the fact. Nonetheless, such contests of digestive constitution have existed since time out of mind, and the truth is, lots of people love them!
